The initiator

My name is JD and I'm the one behind the spinsted project.
I'm 22 yr old guy and I study law in London.
Other than my studies I spend considerable time on web development and I'm really curious to understand how things work in the IT sphere.

Origin of spinsted

spinsted is an accidental venture in the world of memetrackers. In an attempt to understand how memetrackers work and why there are biases, I went from a simple curious experiment to a public website. spinsted has been made public to allow web users to have an alternative choice to existing services and to fill in some gaps which till now have not retain the attention of other websites.

Solving problems

Using memetrackers as news source is a time-saving and discovery only if we can find what correspond to your centre of interests. Technology news cover a wide scope and using memetrackers will be useless if you kept spending more time to seek particular stories because of a lack of classification. To make it easier to spot some particular stories, spinsted focusses on 4 main classification :

1. Inverted Index : this category covers unique stories( i.e it is not popular among publishers but can be raise interest among readers)
2. Money : all recent dealings, acquisitions, VC fund raisings and other investments.
3. Launch : covers new website and product that have been recently launched.
4. Rumors : recent tech rumors.

Ambition

Now that spinsted has entered the memetracker arena, its ambition is to continue to tweak and fine-tune the algorithm that will provide a great, easy and exciting browsing experience.
